The Path of the Neohumanist"What is Neohumanism? "When the underlying spirit of humanism is extended to everything, animate and inanimate, in this universe, I have designated this as Neohumanism. This Neohumanism will elevate humanism to universalism, love for all created beings of this universe." - P.R. Sarkar
In the years 1981-82 P.R. Sarkar set out the contours of Neohumanism, the ideology that offers the outline for creating a culture and social environment based not on selfish norms but on elevated values and the principle of social equality. Neohumanism aims to restore balance to our predominately materialistic society by cultivating the compassionate awareness that ensures those needs are met, everywhere and for everybody. This compassion arises through individual devotion towards the cultivation of one’s spiritual nature (dharma) combined with a rationalistic mentality that exposes dogma and the cruelty of non-universal concepts. In The Path of the Neohumanist - Love in Action, we have set out the basic concepts of Neohumanism in a simple and practical way. It offers our generation a vision for the way to move beyond the capitalist model and move towards an ecologically sustainable society. The contents are:: 1. Critical Spirituality 2. Neohuamnist Ethics and Principled Living 3. Neohumanist Education - Freeing the Intellect 4. Cultivating Universalism 5. Rationalistic Mentality 6. The Principle of Social Equality 7. Cooperative Economics 8. Renaissance Culture 9. Neohumanist Ecology 10. Sadvipras - Inspired Leadership 11. Prama - A world in Balance You are free to download the file here. |
Neohumanist Education - Spiritual Vision - Social Ideals
Rainbow ABC supports the vision laid out in the Neohumanist philosophy as propounded by P.R. Sarkar.
Neohumanism broadens our understanding of what it is to be human by promoting an ecological awareness of our relationship with the entire universe. Neohumanism is an invitation to enter into the full depth and mystery of life. As such it is philosophical in form, revolutionary in spirit and spiritual in orientation.
We see Neohumanist Education as a tool of empowerment for the teachers and a path to authenticity. By mirroring oneself in these ideals , one develops in oneself the focus and commitment to create a culture of values and compassion in the school that shines through in each and every aspect of teaching.
Neohumanist Education is promoted by Gurukul. RainbowABC is the platform created by me to promote this vision in schools in Taiwan and beyond. Currently there are many Neohumanist inspired schools around the world, each applying this holistic vision in unique ways. Below you will find an introductory movie from a neohumanist school in Australia:
